Youtube Duel: Fedex vs. UPS

As we have covered before, failing to understand or fully take into account the transportation requirements of China to U.S. movements (or vice versa) can result in a number of issues: Cost overruns, Time to market delays, etc.

And with many transportation firms now cracking the China market, making sure that their clients understand the “Value Add” of UPS and FedEx’s experience is critical.

So… with that, we give you two Youtube videos this week, one from UPS and one from FedeX.

Part of the Whiteboard series, the UPS video provides a quick 30 second intro into global logistics and how Brown can assist. the entire series is well produced, and hits the mark well.

While punting their air service, UPS I think should produce 2-3 more spots that really highlight their capabilities (Supply Chain services, freight forwarding, and ocean). these are all services they offer through their various subsidiaries (SCS, Fritz, and Menlo)… and they are services that if marketed together would have provided a much more compelling tutorial.
The second video, from Fedex, plays straight off the ignorant American deck of cards and is quite funny. The message ends up being, you know you need to be in China, but since you cannot even put it on a map… trust Fedex to do it for you.

Definately good for a laugh, but Fedex should hone the message a bit… and like UPS, show viewers how they are able to integrate.
