It’s that time again, and for those of you who are looking to keep up with the news in Chengdu you will not be disappointed. There is a lot of investment going on.

EMC set up its 7th solution center with investment of RMB 50 million yuan
The world’s biggest IT storage company – EMC Corporation announced in May its collaboration with Sichuan Yinhai Software Co. Ltd to set up EMC China Solution Center (Chengdu), which is the seventh after the ones EMC established in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei in China. EMC have invested nearly RMB 50 million yuan in equipments to build up the center’s demo testing platform.

This center will bring in western regions of China the world’s leading information basic infrastructure demo, testing and application environment, and provide anti-disaster centers for clients’ key business data.

Israeli CTC Group to build a 40,000-square-meters’ mall in Chengdu
As is revealed, Israeli CTC Group through its Chinese subsidiary and its Hong Kong partner Lucky Hope will build a 40,000 square meters mall in Chengdu, with a total investment of 57 million euros. The mall will be built in the new municipal administration zone and its construction will take three years. The mall will comprise four buildings, three of which will be branches of IKEA, Decathlon, and Auchan, and the fourth a branch of a Chinese retail chain. The company already operates in Shenyang and Xian, and the Chengdu project is its first mall venture.

Chengdu’s patent application ranked second among deputy-provincial cities For the first half of this year, large-scale enterprises in Chengdu have realized an added industrial value of RMB 44.66 billion yuan, up 26.3%. From January to May, the increase of these companies’ added industrial value and business income from main trades both ranked second among 15 deputy-provincial cities in China.

Chengdu female shoes join hands with Italy
It was learned on July 31 that China’s Female Shoes Center in Wuhou district of Chengdu has signed a cooperative agreement with Veneto Famous Shoemakers Alliance to introduce advanced Italian techniques and craft and promote the technical level of Chengdu’s shoemaking industry: the two parties will jointly promote the visibility and influence of alliance member companies’ products in China, assist their cooperation with Chengdu’s companies to make and market their shoes in Chengdu

It is reported that Italy and Spain have confirmed to organize altogether 50 companies to participate in the second international purchasing and cultural festival of China’s Female Shoes Center which to be held on October 12 to 14 in Chengdu.

Mass production of software talents, Chengdu set up training alliance
On July 31, Chengdu Software Talents Training Alliance organized by High-tech zone management commission was officially settled in Tianfu Software Park, which will become an important base for the mass training of practical software personnel and is estimated to train over 20,000 persons by the end of the year.

It is reported that so far 28 education institutions including University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University, Chengdu Vocational Technology College and Guoxinan Education have signed cooperative agreements with High-tech zone; multinationals such as IBM, INTEL and Hitachi Information will also soon join the alliance.

Chengdu has another five-star hotel – New Orient Millennium Hotel
After top hoteliers like Hilton, Shangri-la entered in Chengdu, the Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) Hotels plc under the Hong Leong Group Singapore signed a contract with Chengdu New Orient Development Co Ltd on July 31 and announced its entrance in Chengdu by building the New Orient Millennium Chengdu. It is reported that the five-star hotel has a total investment of nearly RMB 400 million yuan and a total floor area of 38,000 square meters and will be home to 363 rooms. It is expected to open in spring of next year.

Ge Honglin Met with President of CBBC
On August 1, Ge Honglin, vice secretary of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and mayor of Chengdu, met with Mr. Fu Zhongsen, president of China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), including his delegation. Fu ZhongSen said that there are great chances of cooperation between Chengdu and UK, and CBBC is full of hopes in its cooperation with Chengdu especially in IC design, aviation, bio-pharmaceutics, environmental protection, etc.

As is introduced, China-Britain Business Council is a non-profitable promotion institution for the increase of UK trade in China. It has now established offices in 9 cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, and its Chengdu Office is the sole office in west China, which business scope covers those in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet, and Xinjiang.

Chengdu to invest RMB 200 million in developing service outsourcing base
In order to well develop Chengdu as one of the first national BPO base cities, Chengdu government is to increase its investment considerably, a total investment of RMB 200 million yuan as the development funds being expected to spend in establishing the said base, including such projects as IT talents training, software companies subsidies and industrial infrastructure building. It is reported that the governmental aid will be distributed mainly to areas where congregate foreign and domestic software companies like Chengdu High-tech Zone.

Sichuan boiler factory to cooperate with Swedish company
On August 3, Sichuan boiler factory and Swedish Elpanne Electric Energy Technology Co. Ltd signed a cooperative agreement to introduce Swedish core technology and components to make equipments for nuclear power plant – high-voltage electrode-type steam boiler.

Chengdu to build “China Mobile wireless music base”
On August 6, Chengdu Media Group and China Mobile Sichuan Co., Ltd signed a strategic cooperation agreement, in which, the two parties agree to promote and market wireless music series of China Mobile’s wireless music base as a starting point, and shall deepen strategic collaboration on advertising, channels, contents, activities, etc, so as to accelerate the development of Chengdu’s cultural industry and digital entertainment industry.

Southwestern biggest international express mail center settled in Chengdu airport
It was learned on August 8 that the biggest international express mail center in southwest China broke earth on the same day in Shuangliu Aviation Logistics Park. It is learned that the project of Chengdu Airport International Express Mail Center and Port Integrated Building which is invested by Hong Kong Jiade with US$ 10 million will be completed and put into use at the end of the year. By then all Chengdu’s international express mails will be treated in the center, whose clearance process shall be quickened by at least 50%.

Flextronics’s cellphone R&D center project settled in Chengdu High-tech Zone
Flextronics Group, a leading eElectronics Manufacturing Services provider and Global Fortune 500 Enterprise will march into the cellphone R&D in Chengdu. On August 8, Chengdu government and Flextronics signed an investment and cooperation agreement, and the mobile phone R&D center project of Flextronics (China) was officially settled in Chengdu High-tech Zone.

US$ 10 million dollars are planed to be invested in the project, which will fill the gap of the R&D on entire cell phones. It is reported that the center will mainly engage in R&D on entire cell phones, related electronic and telecommunication products, including mobile phone software, hardware, and structural design and testing, etc. The center is expected to open by the end of this year, and its employees will reach 250 by year 2008 and 500 by 2009.

Boeing 747-8 will use Chengdu-made parts next year
On August 8, American Vought Aircraft Industries signed a subcontract for the production of Boeing 747-8 parts with Chengdu Aircraft Industry (Group) Corporation Ltd of China Aviation Industry Corporation I and China National Aero-technology Import & Export Corporation, in which, the Chinese companies promise to provide even tails for Boeing 747-8. The total amount of the contract is nearly US$ 300 million dollars.

Chengdu has GE’s global R&D center
On August 8, hiSoft Technology International Ltd, one of the three best software outsourcing companies in China, announced its strategic plan in southwestern China and officially set up hiSoft Technology Chengdu Limited. hiSoft Chengdu as a new application testing center and delivery center, will be the second GE Global Development Center (GE GDC) in China after the one in Dalian.

Sixth West China manufacturing fair to be held in Chengdu year end
It was learned on the press conference of August 9 that the sixth West China International Equipment Manufacture Fair which is co-sponsored by Chengdu municipality and China Machinery Industry Federation will be held on November 22 to 24 in Chengdu.

Chengdu’s actually utilized foreign investment ranked first among central and western cities
It was learned on August 13 from municipal bureau of commerce, in the first half of 2007, Chengdu’s actually utilized foreign capital was US$ 640 million dollars, up 62% over the same period of last year, and ranked first among central and western cities in China, 70% higher than the city listed second, maintaining a leading place.

    Wanna know more about Chengdu Hotel International Square.where i can get more information about project site,construction method,plant and machinaries,building area..I`m a student in Malaysia.Need to complete my asgnment about that Hilton Hotel,Chengdu,Hotel.
