Happy Anniversary!

In case you have forgotten, today is China’s 5th year anniversary of being a WTO member. If you forgot to get them a gift, don’t worry, the USTR went ahead and got them something.

As reported in the WSJ, the U.S. Government’s Trade arm has a few things to say about the five years and has released a 105 page progress report detailing where things should be and where things are.

Of course, in anticipation of this, China was busy building counter arguments as seen in the China Daily and Shanghai daily.

Over the next few days, I will be breaking the report down and offer some thoughts.

Given I recently read the State Department used Google as a research tool, I am taking the report with a grain of salt. however, with many of the WTO deadlines now passed, it is important to see what U.S. Government officials are reading before they formulate China policy.
