6 months ago, I began to wonder what was next for Jack and Co at Alibaba.

At the time, Ebay was getting ready to throw in the towel, and they had just released a series of announcements related to China Post partnerships, and the hiring of a senior executive from B&Q’s retail group.

Given Jack’s pension for thinking big (and to his credit… executing), I began to ponder… Could he be looking at swimming against the current to move from online to go brick and mortar?

10 years ago, he would have been called insane… but with the recent announcement of Cui Renfu from Wal-Mart.. I am beginning to think that the team is being built.

Jack Ma, chairman and chief executive officer of Alibaba Group, has told local media that Cui has a deep understanding of the retail industry as well as global suppliers and buyers, and his rich experience in corporate operations will help Alibaba better serve its business clients both at home and abroad and play a major part in the company’s ever increasing global trade.
