Now, would everyone please play fair with the Net Nanny, we can all continue to enjoy our favorite Youtube movies without the use of an annoying proxy server.

Hope Facebook will not have the same treatment when they launch their Chinese version in December 2007. Also hope LinkedIn doesn’t have the good idea to make a counter-revolutionary attack against the Chinese internet. Cross the fingers!

I am curious. I reported in my blog a couple of weeks ago that blogs could now be seen as well without the proxy server. I am just curious to discover if someone somewhere has given an explanation for this new opening to a number of sites. Funny enough, CNN news can be seen on line, but my favorite news page (Radio-Canada in French) was/is blocked. I was wondering if the reason was that it was in French and consequently not commonly understood… Anyway, I will search a little to satisfy my curiosity. Anyone?

    Hi Christine.

The GFW is funny that way. sometimes I can tell when the filters are on high when random sites are lost. there is no reason for it other than a new package was uploaded, or a new screen brought online. With any luck it will be back online shortly.

    Have a good weekend

Yes it’s back indeed. LOL I’ve never been out anyway because I use Firefox with the TOR addon. But anyway, I doubt it was a case of censorship but most likely a technical problem.. Like last year when the earthquake stroke Taiwan and damaged the undersea wires. If they blocked youtube in purpose, imagine the bad publicity China would have received.. Now, 7 months away from the Olympics.
