Apologies – My focus is a bit diverted

This week has been one of the most … (enter expletive)… enter superlative

It started off fantastic… new project..  working with the team, ramping up…

and then, the messages started coming in…. Had I heard about the earthquake in People’s Square.. Plaza 66 was swaying and was being evacuated… Nanjing Road was being evacuated… and that was before the news of what had really had happened had come across the wire.

To be honest, it has all been a bit of a blur, and before all of this happened I had some amazingly ground breaking posts in the planning…. which – even thought they were guaranteed gold mines – seemed irrelevant/ inappropriate.  I mean… I know that business will go on, and I know that it needs to… hell, I probably could have taken 5 minutes out to write a post about how to make money / save money from this situation for you my readers..but.. my focus is on much different things, and so I hope you can understand.

To be honest, I am probably going to need to write a good business article to break the cycle.  these last few days have been hard (feels somewhat like the days post-9/11 where you have just been immersed for hours on end…) and there are times when you just need to write and focus on other things.

Until then, please keep your eyes on the right scroll bar.  I will continue to update the needs of local NGOs in the affected areas. There are still a lot of people in need, I know that some of my readers are in a place to assist, and as I know that some of my readers (and their firms) have already assisted in tremendous ways it only provides more motivation to post more requests.

At any rate. Have a good weekend, and expect some strong posts next week.  I will be spending the morning tomorrow with 20 migrant kids who are learning about photography, and no matter how crappy I may feel… they always have a way of cheering me up.

Peace

I know exactly how you feel. I cared more about the quake than most other things this past week as well. Looking forward to new posts, but at the same time, take as much time as you need. We appreciate what you do.

Rich, appreciate this honest, transparent post and I certainly can identify 100% with this sentiment. You’ve been doing a great job sharing much needed information and helping educate people (certainly me) about how to respond with wisdom and compassion. Thanks for being a blessing to China at this difficult time.

Richard, just a question about visas… what is the duration one can stay
on a 6 month F visa ? Can you stay on the same visa for 6 months without
leaving or do you have to leave the country every few weeks ?

    Cheers,
    James.
