With so much going on in China, and only a limited amount of bandwidth, I have created this weekly post to highlight articles that I feel are (1) important, (2) relevant, and (3) interesting.

This week there are 4 articles that I have chosen to highlight as each are quite interesting, they are all relevant, and there are issues within each that I think you the reader should be aware of.

If you have an article that you feel needs to be mentioned, please do so in the comments section. We all have different areas of interest and bandwidth, so I hope you will take some time and post those articles!

Sichuan M8.0 Earthquake Technical Report Released
There has been a lot of talk in the press about how and why the buildings fell in the earthquake affected areas on May12, and to date I have yet to see a report that is more comprehensive than this one.

FDI rises 45.5% in first six months
5 years ago, the FDI for China was jsut getting into the 50-60 billion range, and now after 6 months of the year booked, China has 52 billion USD in contracted FDI.

WOW.

Algae spreading along China’s Yellow Sea coast
following the news that the new environmental ministry was given the funding to hire on 100 more people (total of 300 now), comes more bad news able to the algae situation in China… it is spreading along the coast. Polluted rivers are one thing, but when an OCEAN cakes over with algae because of high chemical concentrations… needless to say I am no longer eating anything that came from the water.
