Yes We Can.

With the results in, and the speeches made, and 2 years of campaign coverage to an end, the US has a new President.

As an American surrounded by members of the EU and Chinese communities today at the Supply Chain conference, all I can say is that the atmosphere was electric.

I have not really felt it before, but people here have really embraced Obama as a change agent… and I am not sure there could be a better first step.

Surely the President Elect is walking into a minefield of issues that all have critical status, but where I feel the difference is that many of the people I spoke with believe he has the ability to bring others into the conversation and take positive steps.

No one thought he could fix the world, and everyone agreed that there is no single person that could, but at least people are feeling like they have someone at the helm they can trust and whom they believe in.

Those are things have been missingĀ  for far too long, and as an American living in China I am happy to see this change.

Yes we can.

Obama has an opportunity to set a new course–let’s hope he turns to the people that have not been key actors (i.e. Pelosi, Reid, etc.) in the poisonous partisanship of the past 12 years (since Clinton impeachment proceedings). I will be watching his appointees carefully.
