Guangzhou’s New Train Station. Designed for Grandure!

Thursday, August 20, 2009 22:04

Like to thank Ian for sending this Youtube clip along of the new Guangzhou train station.  Perhaps one of the busiest in the world, this new station is HUGE.  Apologies for those of you behind the firewall, but for those of you who are able to view… enjoy.

Talking of which, the new Hong Kong/Shenzhen/Guangzhou terminus is actually in Shibi and it takes another 40 minutes to get from there to downtown. Shibi is actually in Panyu Rich. Calling it “Guangzhou” is a bit of an exaggeration on behalf of the local authorities.

Who knows when it will be completed???? What matters to me, though, is that the current Guangzhou East Station is still going to be in operation, continuing the current 12 per day (each way) GZ-HK through trains. This one, in Tian He, is far more accessible to virtually everything in GZ……and is only 10 minutes from our home!

If you’re having trouble seeing this, it might not be the firewall. The page rendered sans video in firefox but worked fine in IE.

Thanks for posting. The monstrous train station in Guangzhou quite the spectacle, especially around Chinese New Years.

    中国人死不要面子, 总是乱花钱来建造过分奢侈的项目。
