If I Could Redesign People’s Square Metro Station – Part III
Thursday, November 26, 2009 4:17Following the previous two posts on how I would make improvements to the metro line, Part 1 and Part 2 here, I have another easy one that came to me while I was in the station looking for a map that would effectively plot where I needed to go.
I was on the way to a location in Pudong that I knew was south of Lujiazui, and north of the Nanpu Bridge. The problem was that, while I could find the cross streets on the large city map that was on the platform, neither the city map nor the metro line map (further down the platform) gave me a clear idea of the station I needed.
This isn’t anything new as pretty much any pocket map of the city will have the metro stations listed, but inside the metro stations I have yet to find ssuch a map.
So, perhaps before EXPO, new maps could be printed. Maps that have the metro system printed within the city maps? Would make getting around a lot easier for the 70 million or so people who are expected to join us in Shanghai.
