With one of the hottest topics lately being China’s role in the upcoming climate discussions in Copenhagen, and their potential for cleantech, I thought I would pass on the recent white paper from Edelman Leading to COP15: Understanding China’s position on climate change as it is a topic that has become quite China focused, and there are going to be real implications for firms operating in China going forward.

Just back from a pre_COP15 conference on developing sustainable leadership, I will have more on this topic going forward here at All Roads, but for those of you who are looking to learn more about sustainability in China, I will simply direct you to my other site Cleaner Greener China for now… and make one simple comment.

While the world is focused on “carbon” as THE problem, in China, there are many more issues that are core to sustainability discussions.  Issues that emit carbon, but have a much more tangible impact on the average Zhou in China.  It is an opportunity for China as the issues they are facing are ones taht will be solved out of necessity, not for financial return, and that is where the opportunities will lie for others who are looking to enter the space.
