Classic! Conan Opening Credits Gets Ripped Off

In what is perhaps the most laughable, embarrassing, example of copying in China since Geely released their 2009 Rolls Royce replica at the Shanghai Auto Show, the people behind the Chinese show Da Pang have become the but of a few Conan jokes for ripping off his opening credits.

Watching the clip above, my own imagination is overflowing with the possible scenarios for how this could have happened….

Could it have been the single “stand out” employee who walked in with 5 new ideas?  Each BRILLIANT!  Each slightly “familiar”, but yet…refreshing.

Or perhaps the stressed out, overworked, post-80s kid who was left with no options after hitting a “creative” wall.  Of course, he is deeply sorry for the embarrassment that he has cause himself, his family, and the show

Or perhaps it was Da Pang himself (who calls himself the Conan of China) who decided the easiest way to get investment in his show was to “align” his show with Conan’s…. in hopes that Conan himself would be flattered, fly to China, and give him rights to China distribution of all Conan products (which would be made Da Pang’s brother’s factory)

Seriously, Dreamworks invested 330 million into their minority stake?

[…] China Hearsay mentioned that Chinese show Da Pang had copied Conan and embarrassed itself.  It is a funny piece. Go check it out.  He then says why it might have happened. […]

The host of DaPeng Debade has made a very funny apology in the last program and has promised to change the opening credits.
